*Bike level: Moderate+ riders only!

*Ride: 9 miles, 1300 feet of elevation gain. Riding time should be 2-2.5 hours. Not technical; I’m calling this “moderate plus” because of the climbing involved.

*Summary: Slate Creek Trail is a newish MTB trail near Kamas, just inside the Uinta-Cache National Forest (aka “High Uintas.”) It’s a one-way MTB-only trail, that features a steady (sometimes challenging) climb, followed by a fun, very-flowy descent. Details below:

* Meet at the Slate Creek Trail Head parking lot for an on-time departure of 10:30 am. The Slate Creek Trail parking lot is located on Mirror Lake Highway, just inside the National Forest boundary, right before the first pay station. Look for signs that say “Yellow Pine” and “Beaver Creek.” Parking is free; you do not need a pass here.

* Lunch afterwards at Lush’s BBQ in Kamas for anybody who’s interested.

* NO E-Bikes: the National Forest prohibits e-bikes on this trail. US Forest Service: e-bikes are considered motorized vehicles. (36 CFR 212.1) e-bike use is prohibited on all non-motorized trails.

* Don't bring cow/bear bells (courtesy bells ok), music boxes, speakers, earphones or dogs.

* Bring calorie packed snacks, plenty of water, bike tube, tire levers, pump and sunscreen. Please make sure that your tires are pumped up to the recommended tire pressure. Knee and elbow pads recommended. Helmet required.

* Please remember the MTB Essential Safety Gear and ABC check your bike before every ride which can be found on our website.

* Cell service may not be available.

* MORNING OF: Please check the club calendar for updates regarding the ride in case of bad weather or trail conditions.

* Activity Release Form: All participants are required to sign and fill out the Club’s Activity Release form that will be provided by the MTB leader at the meeting location.
